Earth Visions

The first Earth Day was April 22, 1970, Over 20 million people participated that year. Today, more than 500 million people and several national governments in 175 countries celebrate this focus on the environment. Numerous communities host "Earth Week" events, an entire week of activities focused on environmental issues.

I shot this photo a few minutes ago. it seemed to speak to me. This shot demonstrating the power of the sun and the recipient of that power soaking it seamed to speak to me.

Order In Chaos

Finally, after 47 days of nothing, On A Roll #8 has been captured on film.

I have just returned from a very wet morning in the field. The dew was extremely heavy, literally soaking me to the skin. I was positive the pre-sunrise light would gift me with many shots from which to choose that magical image...but the wild variety just wasn't there. After walking for an hour and a half, however, I did find something that caught my eye - a seeding thistle. There were thistle plants everywhere but this one was bursting with seeds. The challenge was to then find order in all of this chaos. After many set ups to find the right composition, I saw what I wanted. Hopefully it won't be 47 days until my next discovery.

A Little Humor

Nature is not necessarily "funny" but it can be humerous.

Below are a few shots that should at least make you smile.

"That's hilarious."

"Where's my tail, I can't find my tail..."

"Why are you so nosey?"

"But mom, it's the new look."

"The snoring is driving me crazy."

"Where did you lose it?"

 "Right here somewhere."

"Now that's funny right there, I don't care what you say."

"Over here, on the monkey bars."

"Hey y'all, watch this!"
